Field note 003 /// Fit

Getting the fit right.

What we need from you so your holster fits your firearm the first time.

Why we ask

Every Iland Feldt holster is moulded around one firearm model, and around a specific light or optic if you run one. That is what gives a tight, consistent fit. It also means a holster made for one model will not hold another one safely, so the details have to be right before we start.

What to send us

  • Make and model, with generation. For example Glock 19 Gen 5, not just Glock.
  • Weapon light or laser. The exact model, or tell us there is none.
  • Optic. The red dot model if one is fitted.
  • Which hand you draw with.
  • How you carry. OWB or IWB, and roughly where on the belt.
  • Belt width, and any cant you want.

We offer optic-cut and light-bearing versions for popular light and optic combinations.

Retention

Most of our holsters have a retention screw, so the hold can be adjusted. Set it so the pistol stays put when you turn the holster upside down and still draws cleanly. Test it before you carry.

The first few weeks

A new Boltaron holster is snug by design. Give it a break-in period with an unloaded firearm before relying on it. Any holster can mark a firearm's finish over time through repeated draws, especially some Cerakote colours, and a correct fit keeps that to a minimum.

If your model is not listed

Ask anyway. New moulds are considered case by case, since each one needs its own tooling and lead time.
